Hey Julis!

Two people, five instruments, one idea: to create beautiful soundscapes as a counterpoint to the madness of our times. This is not naïve, but necessary, and it works on all levels. For several years now, the duo Hey Julis! have been providing melodious proof of how important it is not to lose one’s courage to be optimistic. Accompanied by saxophone and guitar, by Fender Rhodes and ukulele, but also by the duo’s two-part vocals, songs such as ‘Endless Nights’ (2022) and ‘Holiday’ (2024) are auditory emotional dances between alt-pop, enjoyable art-rock vibes, and jazz escapades with plenty of tongue-in-cheek humour. Sometimes like a soundtrack for the perfect summer day, sometimes like a comforting anthem of encouragement after a broken heart, then again like a sarcastic commentary on the state of the world – thematically, there are no limits to these numbers. However, their recently released debut album, ‘Significant Bother’ (2025), also makes it clear that musically, anything goes, and nothing is a must. Hey Julis! combine both the courage to be different and stubbornness with a desire to experiment and the ability to let their art get to the heart of things.
