LHARA
With an all-round unconventional fusion of urban pop, physical reggaeton, and experimental rap, Lara Rodríguez Martín has quickly become one of Spain’s most daring artists. She presented her debut album, ‘Por Ké Ibas A Mentirme’ (2020), under the name Lhara with a confidence that was immediately recognised in the Iberian music landscape. Delightfully syncopated rhythms under pulsating bass, excellent production design, and a chameleon-like vocal delivery give the young all-rounder’s sound an infectious danceability for which she has subsequently been celebrated beyond Spain. After her somewhat more innocent second release, ‘Andrómeda’ (2023), however, it is clear that Lhara can also transfer her signature sound into futuristic trap and hyper-pop templates without becoming stylistically frayed. Inspired by the new greats of avant-garde pop, such as FKA Twigs and Grimes, she demonstrates on her new album, ‘Manos En La Mesa’ (2025), that her entire production process has once again become several levels more complex and daring. One thing is certain: Noone else on the international pop scene currently sounds like this woman.
