Little Grandad
Even though they managed to win over many new fans in the London club scene centred around the legendary venue The Windmill at the start of this year, Little Grandad are virtually unknown in this country. The fact that they only appeared online last summer is beside the point. The British quartet are already producing rough-edged yet no less melodic indie earworms of the finest calibre, complete with harmonised vocals, charged power chords and crisp drums. Having grown up listening to the greats of Americana and alt-country, the band also knows how to integrate influences ranging from roots rock in the style of The Band to gritty 90s indie with a nostalgic edge into their sound. Consequently, they can groove like a dream, as on “Middle Seat Of The Car” or the Bob Dylan cover “You’re A Big Girl Now”, but a few songs later they can also deliver a rugged ballad-like vibe, as in “Show Me How To Feel”. All those lucky enough to have already attended one of the lads’ gigs on their UK tour in January and February have nothing but good things to say online. Now they’re coming straight to us here in Hamburg in September.
