Always on the move, always with his forceps poised above the tooth of time, ready to pull: Louis Ottley is a chimera of the Berlin and Birmingham underground, who sees pigeonholes more as stepping stones into the unknown. With the raw energy of early punk icons, the dark vocals of a Black Lives Matter demo leader and the eloquent bravado of Gen Z, the singer and lyricist writes songs for the imminent uprising - against exploitation and inequality, against capital and militarisation. Together with David-Elias Ehoulan, the singer of Schorl3, he recorded around 15 demos in the space of a month two years ago, creating a remarkable symbiosis of anger and confidence. Between contemporary post-punk, British influences from the Windmill scene and his sonorous deadpan vocals, Louis Ottley has created an unmistakable sound that works equally well in hazy clubs and on large festival stages between London and Leipzig. So now is the perfect time for him to make his Reeperbahn debut this September with his debut album “Capital” (2025) - a concert that punk aficionados can’t afford to miss and which hopefully will be just the first of many to come.
