Open-hearted and with a clear view of the concerns of her generation, she confronts her own dark sides in her songs: Marie Bothmer is a songwriter straight out of a book. The daughter of renowned crime writer Roland Voggenauer was drawn to music from an early age. Her first songs appeared on Soundcloud in the early 2010s before producer Hubertus Dahlem discovered the young talent and produced her first single, ‘Es braucht Zeit’ (2016). On the one hand, the title (German for ‘It Takes Time’) says it all, but on the other hand, it is also directly refuted by the fact that the song quickly made waves, connecting Bothmer to the German music scene that lies somewhere between Cro, Nina Chuba, and Johannes Oerding while also establishing her own distinctive alt-pop style with hip-hop influences. Three years ago, she released her debut EP, ‘Swimmingpool’, whose most important single, ‘Dopamin’, was like a starting signal for the newcomer and – in keeping with the title (German for ‘Dopamine’) – aroused anticipation for more. Since then, the DIY artist has been moving away from the past and into a bright future of musical self-realisation. She has now finally arrived there with her debut album, ‘Geb dir alles, stimmt so’ (2025): Her own sound, her own tour, her own vision. And now, she will be performing her second show with us here in Hamburg. What could be better?
