They create music for like-minded dreamers out of sheer fascination for the offside, the unconscious and the forgotten. As the creative project of singer and guitarist Mariin Kallikorm, mariin k. can draw on a rich repertoire of instrumental and technical expertise. While bassist Art Ainsoo has played with the punk band Keskkool and the slacker grunge combo Buzhold, Kallikorm herself has been part of trip-hop mastermind Tricky's band for years. Staking out the field of tension between indie, dream pop and shoegaze with scented candles, releases such as the ‘In Your Mind’ EP (2023) or this year's debut album ‘Rose Skin’ (2025) conjure up a nostalgic atmosphere of heartache that can seem as bitter as it is sweet given its intensity. They are in the best tradition of the pioneers of shoegazing, such as My Bloody Valentine or Chapterhouse, but spice up their sound with contemporary production methods and subtle noise-pop chiselling. This puts mariin k. in the ranks of high-class bands from the Baltic States who are developing their musical niche beyond limited marketing trends.
