A Mess
Whether they're making garage rock with a genuine passion for fuzz and feminism, or time-travelling indie that uses power pop as a vehicle for modern punk – it makes no difference: A Mess has mastered a sound that defines power chords with a middle finger, whilst smashing gender conventions to smithereens. Their first two EPs, “WOMAN” (2021) and “NO MAN” (2024), made this abundantly clear and garnered rave reviews from the Danish BBC6 to GAFFA and VISIONS, right through to Der Spiegel. With justified rage in their gut, self-confidence on stage and a wealth of ideas up their sleeve, A Mess have been tearing across Europe over the last few years, playing over 100 shows and earning their spurs as an ass-kicking live act in the tried-and-tested old-school way. It’s hardly surprising, then, that A Mess now has every sold-out venue sweating with their show, yet never tires of confronting the status quo in all its repulsive hypocrisy. It’s high time we welcomed them here in Hamburg with new material such as the single “I Wish Me A Merry Christmas”.
