With the assertiveness of a central bank, Moneygirl is storming ahead in the local rap scene and is leaving no doubt about her monetary policy: ‘“Money isn’t everything”, say those who have it’, she raps in deadpan style, speaking from the heart. The lyrics of her debut single, ‘Moneygirl’ (2024), are about money but also about the appearance surrounding it, about the hypocrisy of a materialistic society. The cheekily hissed lines dance on a foundation of exquisitely produced trap beats and are characterised by clever sarcasm. Moneygirl takes flexing with cash and bling to the extreme but at the same time exposes the lust for money with biting criticism and knows how to use these ambiguities to her advantage. With her new single, ‘Original’ (2025), she once again demonstrates her skills as a rapper and singer, staying on time, on point, on the money even over a heavy techno beat and leaving the competition in the dust. She will be showing off her style on stage here in Hamburg in September.
