NEVER MIND THE GALLERY | Here’s The SILKY SPÄTI
Exhibition
The Späti in Berlin, or kiosk, has become an integral part of Germany. It is not just a small store selling newspapers, magazines, alcohol, tobacco products and sweets or everyday necessities that you forgot to buy in the supermarket. It has mutated from a small store into a social space, and many a store has become a party zone. People party outside on benches with other guests or meet there to “pre-game”.
In a colossal installation, Berlin artist SILKY sheds light on the late-night shopping phenomenon with over a thousand self-designed products, signs, structures and objects in a store at Seilerstraße 28 in St. Pauli.
