With their knack for crafting catchy hooks and melodies that linger in your head for days on end, Pale Waves have, in recent years, taken their place alongside some of the biggest names in 2000s pop rock. Whether it’s Avril Lavigne or Paramore, Demi Lovato or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs – the Manchester quartet distils these sources of inspiration into a sound all their own, drawing heartily from the rich tapestry of influences. From their debut album ‘My Mind Makes Noises’ (2018) through the widely acclaimed ‘Unwanted’ (2022) to what is arguably their most polished album to date, ‘Smitten’ (2024), Pale Waves can look back on an impressive evolution, showcasing incredibly captivating songwriting and excellent production values at every stage – and, incidentally, racking up hundreds of millions of streams worldwide to date. Alongside the foundations of indie, alternative rock and punk, the band is increasingly incorporating jangly vibes and wistful dream pop into their music, which matures like fine wine over the years. So it’s no surprise that they’re finally taking to the stage here too.
