Just ended a relationship? Ever thought, ‘So, that’s the one? The person I’m going to spend the rest of my life with?’ Ever lost a job? Lost prospects? No matter what the final destination is called: With the right soundtrack, even the most bitter situation can taste a little sweeter. In this context, semia is committed to delivering danceable tunes that are just as good for bobbing along to on the train as they are for an evening in the club. A poetry of everyday life – drawn from real life – is married with post-punk guitars and highly catchy synthpop beats, all underpinned by a constantly grooving bass that seems to echo beyond the horizon. The titles are as beautiful as they are ominous: ‘Zusammen allein’, ‘Schmerzhafte Euphorie’ (2023), ‘Rosen in der Bahn’, ‘Grüne Augen’ (2024) – they not only provide insights into the lyrical depth of a remarkably talented artist, but also reflect the sound she knows how to play with. Last year’s debut EP, ‘Herzen brechen ohne Schuld’ (2024), also demonstrated that this is a DIY artist with plenty of original ideas sprinting straight out of the starting block.
