As the spiritual and musical child of singer and cellist Mabe Fratti and pianist, guitarist, and producer Hector Tosta, Titanic is a unique Spanish-language project. Both artists love to play with rhythm and time, with the development of harmony and instrumentation that happily defies explicit genre definition. While the arrangements on their first studio album, ‘Vidrio’ (2023), have a post-minimalist character, other sound colours on the palette that lie somewhere between chamber music and art pop are enriched with contrasts, become clear, and then buzz away again. Sometimes, the musicians appear accentuated by post-rock, sometimes painted with experimental saxophone. But the interplay between the two – which is excellently complemented by Jarrett Gilgore (sax) and Gibran Andrade (drums) – is always defined by a blindly understood tonal vision. A real experience for fans of unconventional sounds.
