Warm raindrops fall on fertile ground, melodies rise like steam from the canopy of leaves, and the instruments start talking to each other. The sound pulses like a heartbeat, feels wild, raw, and real. TJE is a trio from Hasselt, Belgium, who hit the ground running with their totally unique sound. It's almost as if Björk teamed up with Trent Reznor in the late nineties, only to release the result a quarter of a century later, confounding all expectations. Is that too much of a stretch? Er, no. If you don't believe it, listen to songs like the urgent ‘Echoes’ or the avant-pop hypnosis of ‘coolkidsbar’ and just keep quiet, listen and close your eyes. Between childlike innocence and dark foreboding, seething post-rock and atmospheric minimalism, the debut EP ‘IDOLS’ (2023) already proved two years ago that this trio have a bright future ahead of them. With the collaborative single ‘Pass Through Time’ (2025), recorded together with Bobbi Lu & The Christian Club, but also with their new offering ‘Always Hardening’ (2025), one thing is clear: TJE are here to stay.
