Unsafe Space Garden

Known for their Dadaist concerts and a pronounced penchant for psychedelic mischief, Unsafe Space Garden have built up a reputation as an excellent live band over the last few years – and not just in their native Portugal. Dubbed by music journals across Europe a surreal orchestra whose ideas become more unusual, experimental, and unconventional with every release, the enthusiasm is also well-founded elsewhere. After all, with albums such as ‘Bro, You Got Something In Your Eye – A Guided Meditation’ (2021) and ‘Where’s The Ground?’ (2023), they are nothing less than the reincarnation of the greats of experimental rock, such as Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart: in other words, artists who have repeatedly broken down boundaries with their idiosyncratic understanding of what rock music can, may, and should be. However, Unsafe Space Garden are not only moving in the tradition of tradition-breakers; indeed, they are also leading their very own version of neo-psychedelic rock into a shimmering future – sometimes with a lot of humour, sometimes with existential fear, then again with unforeseen experimental fury.
