In the clubs of Europe, a new hype is sweeping the dance floors – Italo disco is hot again. Despite an abundance of talented acts drawing inspiration from the sound and lifestyle of the late 70s and early 80s, few have revived the genre with such style and flair as Valentino Vivace. Originally from the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, the musician has been a celebrated DJ and entertainer in clubs from Barcelona to Berlin since his debut album ‘Meteoriti’ (2022), revered for his consistently exquisite mixes as well as his own material. Where others are more inclined to imitate and emulate the Moroder style with flashy embellishments, Vivace has gone for understatement and authenticity. This is also evident on his new album Discoteca Vivace (2025), which channels the disco ball romance of the heyday of La Bionda, Righeira and Savage half a century into the future and makes it fit for 2025. Not a second too soon.
