Film in der Corona-Krise

Sessions / Panel / Film & Future / Basic

The film industry is one of the economic sectors most affected by the Corona crisis. Cinema closures and operating restrictions constitute a massive intervention in the system of film exploitation. At the same time, the lockdown measures change consumer behaviour. These extraordinary effects coincide with the disruptive forces of digitalisation, which have been promoting structural change in the film market for years. What does this mean for the future of the film business and film culture, for filmmakers, distributors, cinemas, platforms and broadcasters? What role do politics and film funding institutions play in this process? Will 2020 be the turning point for the film world?
A round table discussion with Helge Albers (Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein), Leila Hamid (X-Verleih), Janine Jackowski (Komplizen Film) and Klaus Goldhammer (Goldmedia), moderated by Thomas Schultze (Blickpunkt:Film).
