On stage, Katanga Junior is magnetic. In 2024, he headlined Wide Open Space Festival, lit up the stage at WOMADelaide, and supported The Cat Empire. Earlier in the year he toured “Pamoja”, his third album—a bold collaboration with First Nations artists from Central Australia.

This week Katanga Junior drops his “Bongo” EP, recorded between Alice Springs and Dar es Salaam. A vibrant return to his East African roots, it fuses the grooves of bongo flava with contemporary afrobeat and features collaborations with leading Tanzanian producers. Early singles “Wambea”, “Pay Day” and “Tanzania” have already drawn rave reviews, airplay on triple j Unearthed, and a national TV feature on Australia’s breakfast news program.
