CDSH | Talking to myself
Bodies in space. Separate, focused. Each lost in their own thoughts. Movement, pause, reflection. Fragments of inner noise: “Is that enough?” “Don’t make a mistake!” And always: ‘Carry on’. Then, a subtle shift. A gesture is mirrored; one person picks up on another’s rhythm. Two become three, then five. A shared energy emerges. What begins as a quiet inner monologue spreads from body to body. Doubt transforms into dynamism, and a sense of isolation gives way to collective movement. The message: What appears to be a deeply personal conflict is often something we all share. In “Talking to myself”, the Contemporary Dance School Hamburg – under the choreographic direction of Javier Báez, assisted by Alanna Reimpel and Edwin Sánchez, and featuring music by Ludovico Einaudi and Woodkid – presents a dance that forges connections. This emotional piece is performed by second-year students from the vocational school who are on their way to professional stage careers. Goosebumps guaranteed.
