Simon Salzig | Nocturne
In the “NOCTURNE” series, Simon Salzig translates the codes of the night and contemporary club culture into an uncompromising visual language. His works in acrylic on canvas operate at the intersection of precise representational art, typographic impact, and minimalist composition. Salzig arranges fragments of the urban landscape – signs from nightlife, basic geometric shapes, and delicate animal-like motifs – as isolated symbols. The result is high-contrast, poster-like, and almost iconographic. The stylistic device of omission and the deliberate use of white space create a visual stillness in which each individual motif resonates like an echo within the space. “NOCTURNE”, however, does not conceive of club culture as a loud spectacle, but rather as a system of codes, frequencies, and meanings. Salzig’s works explore the city and nightlife as a field of tension between isolation and community, order and excess.
