Music / Indie, Singer-Songwriter / Los Angeles, United States of America

With a velvety voice that hovers between melancholy and introspection, Azniv Korkejian makes music firmly in the tradition of great songwriters such as Leonard Cohen and Nick Drake. They too wrote songs with the sort of lyrical depth she displays in "Solitary Daughter" or "Heart Take Flight;" they too softly sang lines of mysterious dignity and beauty to delicate chamber folk with dreamy country elements, serene and pure.

Born in Aleppo, Syria, and raised in Saudi Arabia and the United States, Korkejian performs under the name Bedouine as a nod to her nomad-like biography. Already on her 2017 debut album, she crafted her vintage sound with remarkable compositional and vocal aplomb. On this year's successor Bird Songs of a Killjoy, Korkejian once again harmoniously blends chilly summer night with warm fall afternoon, and turns them into organic sound that makes you forget your surroundings.
