While Chimmi are actually small fish or seafood based delicacies served with sake in Japan, in Korean Chimmi means “hobby". In light of this, the fact that Lee Moonhwan and Jin Hyojung chose to name their project after this culinary specialty can hardly be considered a coincidence anymore. The duo’s songs, which first started dropping in 2018, can easily be seen as little auditory delicacies that succeed in creating a greater sound picture with many small details that sometimes taste like pop, other times more like dance or indie folk. Only recently has their hobby turned professional, but with "Cinema" (2018) they already have a full-fledged album to show for it – inspired by cinema, film and graphic art on the one hand and by romances and broken hearts from real life on the other. A blend which will leave you wanting more at first listen - and one which is a pleasure live just as much as it is in the studio.
