Everyone You Know

Music / Indie, Hip-Hop/Rap / London, United Kingdom

We live in the era of the playlist, and the algorithms of the big online platforms tend to send us all running in the same direction. But some people manage to find something utterly unique—and great—nevertheless. The half-brothers Rhys Kirkby-Cox and Harvey Kirkby are living and kicking proof. The former writes sarcastic observations on our times, while the latter crafts beats like you rarely hear them anymore.

Among their inspirations are their parents, whose extensive record collection included Britpop, R&B, vocal house, hip hop, jungle, and techno, teaching them about a wide range of genres from an early age. Maybe that's why tracks such as "Father's Temper" and "Burning Down" are such bangers without ever growing predictable. Sounds like The Prodigy worked with the Arctic Monkeys and listened to plenty of nineties rap over the course of their collaboration.
