Ian Fisher

Music / Indie, Singer-Songwriter / Austria, United States of America, Iceland, South Africa

Presented by: Fanklub, Backseat

Like virtually no other songwriter of his generation, Ian Fisher has honed his own unique expressiveness on the road. Since leaving his native Missouri and arriving in Europe a good decade ago, this globetrotter has travelled far and wide, never ceasing to translate experiences and insights into songs. As he himself says, he has written more than one and a half thousand songs over the years, given hundreds of concerts in the USA, Europe and Africa and immersed himself in all the folk traditions of the West in order to better understand his own history as an artist. A productive as well as happy outsider of the Americana revival, who marries British pop and AOR stylistics with a knack for understated folk experiments. Not for nothing is Fisher singled out for praise in all the arts columns from Leipzig to Los Angeles - Rolling Stone, PopMatters, Intro or Die Zeit see him as a world-class artist with boundless potential. The post-modern bard is to be credited for never laying it on thick. But the fact that he’s coming to Hamburg in September is also highly commendable.
