Jacob Lee

Music / Singer-Songwriter / Australia

Presented by: Sounds Australia

It's probably not his intention to look like Jesus with his long hair and beard, but the association is still rather fitting for Jacob Lee's highly emotional and elegiac sound. He rode into the pop business on his debut single "Chariot" without a label in the summer of 2014. Today he has more than ten million streams on Spotify.

But Lee is now also prominent on other platforms and landing one success after the other—without having to let a major label cramp his style. On the contrary: Even his first album Philosophy, which he released single by single in late 2017, was his solo effort. It shows Lee as an introspective songwriter whose songs can stir feelings far beyond the usual pop tropes. If Jesus decided to do a comeback tour and took a leaf out of Lee's book, he'd probably be very popular.
