Ghanaian highlife has been enjoying a brilliant comeback for some years now - and Dennis Nana Dwamena has played his fair share in it. The Accra-born economics graduate has had a remarkable career in his home country since his 2017 hit “Odo”. He not only regularly lands his own hits under his alias KiDi, he’s constantly nominated for big African music awards. He also writes and produces for other artists from his country, such as MzVee, Adina or Ko-Jo Cue, helping to raise the international profile of his country’s music scene. Last year, songs like “Say Cheese” and “Enjoyment” brought him more awards, and this year he was named “Artist Of The Year” with the “Album Of The Year” at the Ghana Music Awards. No exaggeration, then, to say that the man brings the sound of Ghana all over the world, claiming a style entirely his own spanning Afropop, funk, jaunty bars and beats and a restyling of highlife. Put on your dancing shoes!
