Public Display of Affection

Music / Indie, Punk, Wunderkinder Act / Berlin, Germany

Presented by: German Music Talent

You don’t have to be a voyeur to find Public Display Of Affection alluring or downright attractive. The decidedly weird fourpiece from the German capital considers itself a multi-medial performance project operating in the spirit of the artist collectives of Berlin of the early 80s and charmingly turns conventions on their heads. Eccentric, punky and full of idiosyncratic ideas, Madeleine Rose from the theatre collective Das Gegenteil, Lewis Lloyd from Plattenbau, Jesper Munk and Anton Remy come together to make no frills, straight up DIY punk. Their first single "Rose" from last year was already straight in your face and it was quickly followed by the surreal "Spring" which showed this band to be a completely new chimera of post-punk, Lynch-like jazz touches, pop and ethereal wave. Bets are on that this band will be treating us to more than just one hit of local counter-culture attitude over the next years.
