Music / Rock / Canada

Presented by: Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA)

Originally formed as a tribute to the legendary Japanese guitarist Takeshi "Terry" Terauchi, Teke Teke soon developed into its own project—and into a musical tornado that swept the Montreal rock scene. All seven band members hail from other projects that are well-known in the city, such as Gypsy Kumbia Orchestra, Pawa Up First, and Boogat. This most definitely gives Teke Teke's compositions a versatile edge.

The Japanese Eleki sound provides a highly interesting contrast to the cinematic productions that blend post-rock, shoegaze, and noise, which already proved a potent and unique style cocktail on the 2018 EP "Jikaku." The band may not be on many radars yet, but they'll make their presence felt in Hamburg for the first time in September.
