The Sherlocks

Music / Indie, Rock / United Kingdom

Rock music from the island across the Channel, made by a bunch of young guys sporting a British sneer – this was a sure-fire guarantee for legendary stadium anthems back in the 90s, and it’s remained so ever since. The Sherlocks are the best proof that the Brit rock of yesteryear has left its mark without leading to endless imitations. The four musicians from South Yorkshire pack an unerring flair for the odd epic ride on the strings, great harmonies and hooks as well as clever lyrics into original songs with enormous ear-catching potential. As emergency aid against bad moods, all of the band’s three albums so far have been virtually unrivalled. And especially their latest effort, “World I Understand”, fully lives up to any expectations of emotional support. In short: It’s not just the shades in their videos that make The Sherlocks legitimate successors to certain legendary British acts – however you look at them, they are an oasis of good humour.
