Back from New York City – Recap video online!
Our highlight last week: The Reeperbahn Festival Showcase Night at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City! After an exciting opening ceremony announcing the jurors of the ANCHOR 2019, Tony Visconti, Kate Nash, Bob Rock, Peaches, Zan Rowe and Arnim Teutoburg-Weiß, the following acts made us sweat, providing a first taste of Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg at the end of September:
The evening started with the Canadian transformers of cineastic art pop Yes We Mystic with a hell of a touching performance, after which ORI enchanted most of the listeners charmingly with his electronically decorated song writing skills.
Thanks to Leoniden the atmosphere soon became stirred up and euphoric, just as we expected of the band from Kiel. The lead-over to the graceful performance by Mira Lu Kovacs aka Schmieds Puls was perfect, and the duo Gurr with their opulent garage rock formed a wonderful counterpoint inducing us to dance. Afterwards, Renata Zeiguer’s bossa nova inspired indie pop offered a shift in style before the New Yorkers of Surfbort presented a brilliant, uncompromising closing. You will find impressions of our fantastic night in our media library and our recap video.
Conclusion: For the Reeperbahn Festival crew, but also and above all for the aspiring artists it was a successful Sequencer event in New York, further extending the bridges between the European and US American music sectors. The “Sequencer Tour“ takes place within the framework of the Year of German-American Friendship (Deutschlandjahrs USA) and is funded by the German Federal Office and implemented by the Goethe-Institut, with support by the Federation of German Industries (BDI).
