Dave Stewart Meets Michael Trautmann - Keynote Interview on Brands and Music

Music. Brands. (E)Motion.
Dave Stewart with a Keynote on Brands and Music.

Our focus on music for media and brands continues to grow with “music.brands.(e)motion”. Approximately 20 events devoted to this subject area are in the pipeline for this year’s conference. Today we’re pleased to announce the first highlights.
To start, there’s the keynote interview: Dave Stewart (ex-Eurythmics star, SuperHeavy, producer, entrepreneur, photo) will talk to advertising luminary Michael Trautmann (Thjnk, Vice-President, GWA, the Gesamtverband Werbeagenturen (Association of German Advertising Agencies)). They’ll explore the extent to which the creation of content for brands can and must emanate from the artist him- or herself and under what conditions this results in real gain for brand, agency, and artist. We’re thrilled that Dave Stewart – who was our keynote speaker in 2013 – will be returning to the Reeperbahn Festival!
Our other “music.brands.(e)motion” events will pursue this same theme: in talks, panels, presentations, interviews, and workshops, we’ll delve into the highs and lows of the triangular relationship between artist (music), agency (producer), and brand (film/games).
We’re presenting some of these sessions here – the rest will follow soon.

Synch & Brands
“Go West – Conquer Hollywood!” is the motto of a session devoted to the synch business in the large American entertainment market. What are the access opportunities and what are the rules in the US market – in other words, what you need to know to get your music into a film, television series, or a trailer – will be discussed and clarified by the following insiders: Vik Gudi (CEO, Elephant Music, GB/US), Toddrick Spalding (Director of Music, Mob Scene Creative + Productions, US, photo), Will Quiney (Owner, Vamanos; Head of Music Supervision, Empire Design, GB), and Cindy Kramer (Manager Marketing & Creative Services International, BMG; DE).

Synch & Brands
In addition to matchmaking sessions and networking events, “music.brands.(e)motion” will also include workshops – small work groups in which participants can learn the key principles of the synch business from experts in the field. Dagmar Schwengler (Director Synch and Licensing, BMG Germany, DE, photo) and Markus Linde (Owner, Thag’s Agent, DE) will offer a basics workshop for those working at creative agencies.
For newcomers from the music industry, Bettina Schasse de Araujo (Head of Service Innovation at the Institute for Applied Informatics, University of Leipzig, DE) and Juliane Darr (Licensing Manager, Budde Music, DE) are putting together a workshop called “Granting Synch Licences – A ‘How To’ for Indies”. This workshop will be presented in cooperation with the VUT (German Association of Independent Music Companies).
Pre-registration, via our website, is required for the workshops.
