The sound of an accolade!
Pomp, Lo-Fi and Nostalgia – 36 new acts confirmed.
13 million audio carriers sold, two number one hits, three sold-out concerts at the Wembley Arena and, as a knightly accolade, a duet with Sting. That's something only achieved by the best. Craig David is one of them. Since publishing his debut album at the beginning of the 2000s, his soft R’n’B pop gems have always made it to the top of the charts, and there is hardly any radio station that hasn't played at least one of his songs. Major Lazer, Katy B and Chase & Status have all contributed to his new album, giving Craig David, who is also on tour as a DJ, a fresh and electronic touch. At this year's Reeperbahn Festival Craig David performs an exclusive acoustic show.
Dark synthie rhythms, catchy hooks dominated by the unique voice of ALMA. The true sound of EDM! This is also Elton John's impression who has already expressed his praise for the talented young artist from Finland.
London has always boasted a pulsating music scene. Vaults (photo) is an electronic pop trio drifting in the wake of Oh Wonder or Florence + the Machine out of the hazy Thames river into the wide world of music with their soft and intense songs, a world already eagerly waiting for their first album.
The Lemon Twigs are also still at the beginning of their career. Residing somewhere between The Beatles, Beach Boys and Ben Kweller, the talented youngsters are digging through the retro sound of their role models, creating captivating pop moments between pomp, low-fi and nostalgia while not sounding outdated at all.
Hip-Hop is a vast blank spot on the map of the Baltic states. This is now changing. TOMM¥ €A$H grew up between grey concrete blocks in the Estonian capital of Tallin. His only escape was the music and fashion world of American hip-hop stars. Kayne West, the dark beats of Tyler, The Creator and post-Soviet awakening are merging into one when the Latvian rapper performs.
The Duo Schwarz Dont Crack and their electro R’n’B rummage in the densest of atmospheres – the underground. The New York-based Ahmad Lames and the German producer Sebastian Kreis found each other in the hip music city of Berlin; since then they have taken their audience on sensual journeys along the dance floor.
The songs of the British songwriter Dan Croll also make the listeners dance: intelligent, catchy pop songs, boiled down to their essence, whose groove comes from the heart and which in their finesse often remind of the late Prince.
