JAS
JAS's songs are like selfies set to music. Musical snapshots capturing his emotional life. Some a little out of focus and blurry, others like intimate close-ups that let you look deep inside him. With tracks streamed millions of times, the 21-year-old singer and songwriter delivers the soundtrack of his generation. A generation stuck in emotional head-chaos between feeling lost and party vibes — one that celebrates the adopted Berliner for his versatile style of carefree indie pop and pensive ballads.
His biggest driver is the search: for atmosphere, for depth, for real feelings. Jasper Riessen, as JAS is called by his full name, uses his music to build multidimensional mood spaces where he talks openly about whatever is moving him right now. Whatever pisses him off or makes him happy. An ambivalence that has been with him since early childhood, and that he currently shares with an average of 400k monthly Spotify listeners, over 80k TikTok fans and more than a 100k Instagram followers.
Even as a little boy, JAS was torn between rock icons like Pink Floyd and Queen; later, modern acts like Sam Smith and The 1975 came into the mix. Influences that inspired his first track "Winterherz", which racked up several hundred thousand plays in no time and has since passed 30 million streams. After the release of his second single "Straßengraben", everything moved fast. Summer 2024 brought his debut EP "Vier weiße Wände", earning him a standing as one of the most exciting new voices in German pop, as well as support shows for TJARK, Becks and Clueso.
In his songs, JAS tells of an emotional world tilting off its axis. Of big themes like farewell and transience, but also of beautiful moments together, when everything seems perfect. Except those are always on the verge of tipping over, too. A torn mood his fans related to on his first headline tour in autumn 2024. After a run of summer festivals, September 2025 brought his second EP "Erinnerst du dich?": another take on his emotional status quo. The echo of constant change, while nothing stays the way it is. Songs about a childlike longing for lightness, about relationships and situationships, about growing up and finding an identity. And about simply letting life happen.
JAS is heading out on tour again. The venues are getting bigger, the festival slots longer. His community keeps growing, even though he has no easy answers to sell. As on tracks like "Seelenruhig (feat. LUNA)", "Die Jugend hat Angst" and "Zu jung", which over the past months have already set the course for his upcoming debut album "Wir sind so schön verloren". Jasper has evolved and turned his gaze from the inside outwards. Onto a contradictory world that is sometimes hard to bear. A chaotic, teeming tableau of unsorted emotions and thoughts, which JAS channels into a newly defined sound between modern pop, profound singer/songwriter elements and powerful rock influences. All at once. And yet strangely coherent.
How seriously he means that outward turn becomes clear in August 2026 on ZDF-Morgenmagazin, Germany's national breakfast show. His song "Zu jung" is announced. Seconds before the first note, JAS turns to the audience and explains that he'd rather use the moment for a more serious song — spontaneous, on him. Then he plays "Die Jugend hat Angst" (The Youth Are Afraid). Not a statement against anyone, as he clarifies afterwards, but for the song: some messages matter more than the running order.
Stories of disappointed love, of the fear of death and of the future. But also of new beginnings and the feeling that maybe he isn't so lost after all. JAS's debut album "Wir sind so schön verloren" (We're So Beautifully Lost) will be released on 23 October 2026. Around the release, the singer and songwriter can be seen on his fourth headline tour through a total of 12 cities, with over 7,000 people expected.
