Julian Brimmers

Julian Brimmers is an author, culture journalist and filmmaker from Cologne. His work primarily spans the English- and German-speaking cultural spheres. His writing on culture and current affairs has appeared in German and English in publications such as The Paris Review, ZEIT and ZEIT Online, Spiegel Online, The Creative Independent and Crack Magazine. From 2011 to 2018, he was a staff editor at the Red Bull Music Academy. As an editor and translator, he’s been involved in the work of Ta-Nehisi Coates, John Wray and the New York Times’ “1619 Project”, among others. His German translation “MF DOOM – Chroniken einer Hip-Hop-Ikone” is due out in September 2025. Brimmers was the host and co-author of the podcast “Trauma Loveparade”, which won the German Podcast Award in 2021.
