Stephan Schulmeistrat
Stephan Schulmeistrat is Director of the German Music Information Centre (miz), an institution of the German Music Council, and President of the International Association of Music Centres (IAMIC), the global network of music information centres. Following training as a church musician, he studied musicology, art history and Romance languages and literature. He worked as a freelance researcher and editor, including for Bärenreiter Verlag and Beethovenfest Bonn. He joined the German Music Council in 2003 as a research associate and became Director of the German Music Information Centre (miz) in 2016. His work focuses on documenting and analysing musical life, as well as on the intersection of music information, cultural policy and international cooperation.
