Svenja Holst-Runge
Svenja Holst-Runge has been with Hamburg Marketing GmbH since 2004 and, as Head of Cross-Sectoral Marketing, drives Hamburg’s international positioning with real commitment. She studied art history, literature, and English in Marburg and London, started her career at PR agencies, and later spent eight years at NDR. Campaigns from her team have gained global attention, most notably the Elbphilharmonie’s international opening campaign, honored with Cannes Lions and other prestigious awards. Communications for Kultursommer Hamburg—launched in close collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Media as a post‑pandemic restart initiative and now continued as the Culture City Hamburg campaign—are among Hamburg Marketing’s success stories. During UEFA EURO 2024, Svenja and her team again secured international visibility and accolades for Hamburg. Beyond headline campaigns, Svenja invests in networks: internationally via the HamburgAmbassadors and regionally through the Cultural Marketing Round Table. With roughly 30 years of cultural-sector experience in Hamburg and northern Germany, she continually brings the city’s cultural diversity into the global conversation—in service of a strong Hamburg brand.
