The Boojums

No sooner had The Boojums released their first batch of singles than they were being hailed as the latest hot thing in Canada. The trio from Nova Scotia have succeeded in updating classic garage rock with an undeniable jukebox feel straight out of the 60s. Songs such as the ultra-danceable ‘Outta My Head’ (2024) also showcase vocal and guitar chord qualities reminiscent of the energy of the early Pixies. Their ever-growing fanbase comes up with even more comparisons online – from Modest Mouse meets Talking Head to the school dance from ‘Back to the Future’. It’s almost a foregone conclusion that this band will win over many nostalgics with their singles ‘Don’t Wanna Love’ and ‘Burnin’ Up’ (2025). But by the time they play their concert here in September, fans of superbly crafted contemporary rock music in trio format in Germany are also likely to swear allegiance to this combo in droves.
