Where shady PR machines once manufactured talent, today, the unbridled energy of self-empowered art – created by people free from the pressure of expectations – is increasingly taking centre stage. Whether online or on festival stages large and small, whether on the radio or on highly popular playlists: Carla Ahad is perhaps the youngest and undoubtedly the most impressive current example of authentic indie pop. Fresh, wild, danceable, and completely unfazed by hype, she follows her own vision. This is evident in singles such as “Bleib doch noch” (2023) and “Blauer Himmel Odyssee” (2024), which exude plenty of charm and healthy self-confidence. The DIY producer fuses physical beats that straddle techno and house with addictive sing-along hooks embellished with feminine playfulness and sparkling synths, all with a captivating ease, as if nothing and no one could throw her off course. And why should they? After all, this unconditionally positive vibe is underpinned by Carla’s success, which has seen her rise within just a few years to become a phenomenon streamed millions of times – one that relishes in tearing down the industry’s entrenched logic, as in her 2024 release, “Banger”. Is it any wonder, then, that last year, her debut album, “Junges Ding” (2025), had fans and music critics alike eating out of the palm of her hand? It’s high time she brought that magic to us, too.
