Conscious Pilot
Exactly how the distinctive sound of a band is created is often enough a question of chance. Or fate. Or talent. Or all of the above? Over the past few years, Conscious Pilot have put their heart and soul into working hard to sound like no other band from Glasgow’s punk scene. And with success. The duo – which has since grown into a quartet – established a signature sound that lies somewhere between art punk and post-rock with their debut EP, ‘Epoxy Plains’ (2024), which combines rhythmic variance with infectious hooks and unconventional goosebump-inducing melodies. Similar to the experimental combos of the Windmill scene from Brixton, Conscious Pilot are interested in combining erratic instrumentation, spoken word passages, and socio-critical themes, but they are also interested in disruption and artistic rebellion against the logic of a thoroughly commercialised music world. Their steadily growing audience in mainland Europe proves that they are also hitting the nerve of the times beyond their British homeland. And their first gig in Hamburg will undoubtedly win them some new fans.
