Daniel Wang
He’s been in the business for ages, seen and heard a lot, but his sound is always up with the times: Daniel Wang was among the house producers propelling the disco revival in the 90s and made retro sounds fit for a new club landscape. EPs like “The Look Ma No Drum Machine” (1993) or “The Morning Kids” (1996), now long out of print, are seasoned deep house classics that combined funk and disco with visceral beats and foreshadowed the Italo disco revival long before the term caught on. The DJ and producer has been a little quieter in recent years. In 2015, two new live mixes were released in Japan and now and then he can be seen in the clubs of his new home city of Berlin - from Schwuz to Wilde Renate and Paloma Bar. However, Wang’s been busy elsewhere too. He immersed himself even deeper in the technical side of DJing, made remixes for Wolfgang Tillmans and Cerrone and released two new EPs in 2022: “Panoramic” and “Dsdn”. As an observer and critic of the club scene, he champions a vibrant underground culture and loves feeding it with fresh DJ sets. The perfect recipe for an evening full of danceable tunes here in Hamburg.
