There is a distinct sense of longing that runs through Day We Ran’s sound, and it is reflected in more than only the trio’s dreamy lyrics. This bittersweet yearning for distant horizons seems almost tangible in the echoing guitars, the airy sing-along vocals, and the melodies that appear to stretch all the way to the horizon. From the east coast of Australia, the band send summery vibes across the Pacific and out into the world, having already reached an international audience of millions with singles such as “Forestry” and the euphoric “Foaming” (2023). A large-scale PR campaign was just as unnecessary as was pandering to any social media hype. Instead, the three brothers’ sound resonates with a lovely retro aesthetic reminiscent of psychedelic rock bands from the late 70s yet that also carries nuances of Jack Johnson’s laid-back detachment and the harmonic sensibilities of Portugal. Down Under, the band have long since left their status as an insider tip behind and can now boast tens of millions of streams globally. With their 2025 single, “Snake With A Bone”, and their latest track, “Carolina” (2026), in their set, they’re now returning to Hamburg to give us a taste of their long-awaited debut album.
