Drei Säcke Bau­schutt

‘Life is full of rubbish – you just have to look at it the right way.’ As sarcastic as Drei Säcke Bauschutt’s motto comes across, the Hamburg trio are just as biting in tone and lyrics. They only talk about themselves in pejorative terms and have more than one middle finger left for the status quo of our society, which often gives their songs a satirical flavour. Consisting of former members of Hands Of Kanellos, the project is characterised by the leftfield of the German-speaking post-punk movement of the early 80s as well as by C86 syntheses and existentialist indie rock from the rehearsal cellars of the republic. From the lyrical to the musical outpourings, however – or as a result – everything here remains as unpretentious as possible, as songs such as ‘Vom Sockel / Vom Dorf’ (2022) and ‘Vom Glück’ (2024) demonstrate with provocative laconicism. Drei Säcke Bauschutt are certain to have a distinctly student charm. In sound and colour, however, they can also go berserk and dish it out on stage according to all the rules of the art. That’s when they show their real strengths.
