Others spend a year abroad after graduating from school or go on a journey of self-discovery – or both. Elle Coves, on the other hand, launched her own music career and released singles such as ‘Before I Fall Apart’ (2023) and ‘Summer’ (2023), which are racking up hundreds of thousands of streams on relevant platforms and causing a stir in the music press. Inspired by greats such as Taylor Swift, Fleetwood Mac, and Maggie Rogers, the singer–songwriter – who was born in Germany and grew up in Ireland – also wants to make it big. This has been noticed not only by her parents and fans, but also by other talents in the UK, such as Lewis Capaldi and Dublin’s pop quartet Wild Youth, with whom Coves is going on tour. Her debut EP, ‘Selfishly Inclined’ (2024), showcases an artist who – with her brilliantly produced sound design – knows exactly what she wants, where she wants to go, and how to get there.
