Gaia Banfi
Like memories that blur in the mists of the past but that were once identity-forming, Gaia Banfi’s sound paintings are both extremely memorable and ephemeral. With her cool electronic production style – which is reminiscent of Icelandic artists of the calibre of Emiliana Torrini – and pastoral Italian romanticism, she creates music of extraordinary intimacy. Her recently released debut album, ‘La Maccaia’ (2025), shows a gifted singer who also appears here as a producer and reveals the gigantic potential of her songwriting in a way that is both vulnerable and reflective. It is a form of art pop that we can listen to in the most difficult life situations but that also gives us comfort after a stressful day at work – music full of poetry, atmosphere, and expressiveness.
