The Get Alongs
Without any pretensions or shiny frills, The Get Alongs celebrate dynamic garage rock with relaxed surf vibes. The band was founded in Toronto in 2017 by brothers Harrison and Rory along with friends Eric and Tristan. Their first jams in the garage revealed that the four connected on an intuitive level, and they quickly released two EPs – ‘Good Morning’ (2019) and ‘Tossing Stones’ (2020) – to acclaim from the Canadian music press. Influences from alternative rock, new wave, and shoegaze also find their way into the now-eclectic songwriting of The Get Alongs, who – as their name suggests – get along very well with one another. For some, it’s a bittersweet nostalgic sound, while for others, it’s a rejuvenating dose of contemporary indie music with a nod to the tried and true. Either way, on their debut album, ‘Weather Permitting’ (2023), the band show that they can draw on various sources of inspiration to create their own style, all while sounding fully authentic throughout. Their new single, ‘Haunt’ (2025), underscores this with bluesy grooving guitars, dynamic drums, and vocals reminiscent of the great grunge frontpeople of the 90s.
