The Hubbards
The Hubbards have thus far walked the middle path between highly acclaimed indie pop bands and rehearsal room charm more authentically than few in their profession. The quartet from Kingston Upon Hill in the north-east of England combine slacker songwriting with three guitarists and an unerring instinct for melodies that simply stick – and they have been doing so for over a decade. The result is endearing songs such as the driving ‘Is It Me?’ (2014) and the pop-appealing ‘Cold Cut’ (2016), for which The Hubbards are still loved dearly by their fans. So much so, in fact, that bands such as The 1975 and Foals as well as great contemporary singer–songwriters from the UK of the calibre of Lewis Capaldi and Sam Fender have also shared the stage with the likeable foursome. The Hubbards have even accompanied an orchestra that performed the soundtrack to ‘Jurassic Park’. Obviously, these guys know no boundaries when it comes to celebrating their own music as well as that of others – perfect conditions for a legendary gig here at St. Pauli.
