Josi Miller
Josi Miller gained her first experience as a DJ in the East German subculture. While studying at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, she played on increasingly larger stages throughout Germany over the years – her sets were already transcending genre boundaries at the time. In 2017, Josi – by then a long-time protagonist of the Homegirls podcast – moved to Berlin. She accompanied Trettmann as a tour DJ for years, while also continuing to tour as a solo artist. She has performed in Cape Town and Maui, at Radio Rudina in Vienna and FOUNDATION.FM in London, at about:blank, at the Institut für Zukunft and at Uebel & Gefährlich, playing shows from MODULAR to MELT, Gurtenfestival Bern to Openair Frauenfeld and Feel to Fusion. Teaming up with KLAN musician Stefan Heinrich, she founded the electro-pop duo Import Export; this constellation produced two highly acclaimed EPs, ‘Snacks’ and ‘Meds’. In autumn 2023, during a creative camp in Limoux, France, Josi decided to tackle a solo album. The first fragments of the large-scale project were created in a circle of trusted musicians such as Fatoni, Aywing, Lambert, Torky Tork and Beach People. In 2024, as part of a support programme, Josi moved to the Uckermark region for several weeks to live with post-punk icon Gudrun Gut – and it was here, at the latest, that her project took shape. At the end of an intensive exploration of her own psyche and countless hours spent between synthesizers and beat software, the result is ‘4 Stages Of Sleep’ – a debut album that combines breakbeat, pop and Electronica. It will be released in October 2025 by Grönland Records and is set to be performed live on stage soon.
