Lea Kampmann
Born in the Faroe Islands, Lea Kampmann moved to Copenhagen with her parents at the age of five and has since developed into a self-determined artist. However, she is anything but a run-of-the-mill songwriter. Even with her debut EP, “Common Blue” (2017), she made a deep impression on the Danish music scene and not only went on to rack up nominations at the Faroese Music Awards, but also quite rightly won “Artist of the Year” in 2018. This has made her something of an ambassador for the Faroe Islands in Denmark, where the language and culture of the archipelago – situated far out in the North Atlantic – are still viewed with a degree of unfamiliarity. By the release of her album “Seinferð” (2024) at the latest, she had dedicated a manifesto to her homeland, to her mother tongue, and to the rich culture of the islands, causing a stir throughout Scandinavia. On it: melancholic folk-pop with elfin vocals and delicate guitars evoking the enchanted landscapes of the North and their poetic beauty. Perfect, then, for a memorable concert here in Hamburg this September.
