Re-TROS
During their now two-decade-long history, the band featuring Hua Dong (guitar, vocals), Liu Min (bass, keys) and Huang Jin (drums) has enjoyed a string of successes. First came the doomsday-like debut EP ‘CUT OFF!’(2005), which instantly put the trio in the spotlight under the name Re-Tros (Rebuilding The Rights Of Statues) - just in Beijing's by then vibrant rock scene, but also internationally. How it transpired that Brian Eno himself contributed a number of keyboard segments is still a mystery. But even with the following albums "Watch Out! Climate Has Changed, Fat Mum Rises..." 2009) and ‘Before The Applause’ (2017), the triumvirate caused a stir and established themselves as a serious act at the nexus of post-punk, gothic rock and dystopian electronics. Rave reviews rained in from the New York Times to Vice, and even Hector Castillo (David Bowie, Björk) was hired as a producer. Not least because of their intense love of experimentation and amazing virtuosity, Re-Tros were also hired for the soundtrack of the hit series ‘3 Body Problem’. What’s still left on the bucket list? Of course, their first concert with us.
