Even before they dropped their first album, Alewa (2020), Santrofi were causing a sensation across Europe with their high-energy concerts. The eight-piece collective from Ghana see it as their calling to bring the classic highlife sound into the present day, learning from the very best the genre has to offer. Ebo Taylor, Osibisa and Basa Basa inspired a rhythmic style that would go on to conquer the world from its West African birthplace. Bassist and producer Emmanuel Ofori was there from the start and is now letting his experiences blossom in his Santrofi project. You can hear it in every note, every heartfelt change of tempo and, last but not least, in the life-affirming choral parts that give this group's organic Afrobeats an irresistible danceability and lightness. With their live album “Deep Into Highlife”, a recording of their legendary Berlin concert two years ago, Santrofi have already created an immortal monument to themselves. Now, at the start of this year, their second studio album “Making Moves” (2025) has followed, showcasing eight extraordinary musicians with a mission: to bring love, warmth and a little light into the world and defy the storm clouds.
