Sounds of ecstasy echo from the bittersweet mists of the past; a voice evokes memories, but are they even your own? Seductive and familiar, yet also infinitely distant. Katie Drew and Joey Cobb create songs with enormous immersive power; while inspired by luminaries like the Cocteau Twins or Beach House, they offer a refreshingly unique take on ethereal dream pop, with shimmering touches of shoegaze and neo-psychedelia. As White Flowers, the duo from Preston, UK, released their much-acclaimed debut ‘Day By Day’ (2021) five years ago, impressively showing how a style considered dead can be triumphantly revived in the 2020s – minus the kitsch, but with an almost alchemy-like production quality and a captivating array of ideas. The long-awaited follow-up, ‘Dreams For Somebody Else’ (2026), is now out: a musical manifesto for the poetic weight of dreams – and the lessons we can learn from them. It’s healing for the soul through headphones – and a real spectacle live that lingers long after.
